Abstract

The insurmountable progress of science and technology has reshaped the present-day society by altering communication, healthcare, industry, education and the world economy as well as establishing interconnectedness never seen before. Technology is the application of science in practical problems which is created by a cyclic process of innovations in technology and science is the systematic pursuit of knowledge which is used to solve practical problems as a result of technology. Since the first stone tools and fire control, the Digital Age, and modern advances like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and neurotechnology, human evolution has been a lifelong pursuit of exploration and use. Such breakthroughs as modern AI diagnostics in healthcare, precision farming, 5G communication networks, renewable energy solutions, and Industry 4.0 manufacturing have created new quality of life, better connectivity, higher productivity, and better education. Food and drug additives, however, are also associated with major issues such as job loss due to automation, breaches of privacy, and cyber security, ethical consequences of genetic engineering and AI, social isolation, and environmental degradation. The ethical governance and ethics awareness, as well as interdisciplinary cooperation, are even more necessary considering the dual-use potential of such an area as neurotechnology. It is important to balance innovation and sustainability and human values to make sure that scientific advancement is used to the benefit of humanity without jeopardizing privacy, equity, and ecological stability. By preventing these problems in the first place, it is possible to use the power of science and technology as a transformative element and preserve the principles on which a fair and sustainable future should be built.
