Abstract

This study assessed interscholastic sports administrative challenges in Ebonyi state high schools. A cross-sectional research design was used for the study. One hundred and eight three (183) Questionnaire was administered to the participants through purposive sampling. Data were collected and analyzed in descriptive statistics (Mean and Standard deviation). The findings revealed that sports administrators indicated that sports facilities are administrative challenge to interscholastic sports programmes to high extent (x̄=2.79±0.40), in secondary schools Abakaliki Education zone; Sports administrators indicated that sports equipment is administrative challenge to interscholastic sports programmes of Ebonyi state high schools to a high extent (x̄= 2.72±0.38). However, there is no significant difference in the extent of administrative challenge on interscholastic sports programmes among sports administrators in secondary schools by gender (t-cal= 1.2; P-val=0.26 at 0.05). The study concluded that sport facilities and sport equipment to a high extent are predictors of administrative challenge of interscholastic sports programme in Ebonyi state high schools. These underscore the need for adequate provision of sports facilities and equipment’s to avoid administrative challenges in schools.
